+ Can I send a file using YouSendIt through command line?
Yes. In order to run YouSendIt.exe from the command line, try the following:
YouSendIt.exe -b -e -r [recipients] -f [file1.txt] –f [file2.txt]
The recipients need to be separated by semicolons and for each file you need a –f (the current release has the five file limit, our next version will support unlimited files). Switch -b minimizes the application to the Windows toolbar while uploading the files. Switch -e is to close the application after the file upload is complete. So, for example, to send our log file: "C:\Program Files\YouSendIt\YouSendIt.exe" -b -e -r john.smith@yousendit.com -f c:\yousendit.log
+ I chose the option to zip up the files but my files get listed separately in Express.
The files are compressed only when you click on the 'Send It' button.
+ I have selected the option 'Always ask before zipping the files'. I selected one file to send but it did not ask.
The files are compressed only when you select multiple files. A single file is not compressed.
+ I sent a folder but my recipient received a compressed file instead.
Each folder is compressed in a file and then sent. The name of the compressed file is the same as the folder name.
+ When I try to add a folder, I get an error message.
Please check your account type by going to the Account tab in Express. Lite users are not allowed to send the folders.
+ I would like to send more than one file at a time. Can I do this with YouSendIt?
Yes, the YouSendIt service allows you to send up to five files at a time if you have a Pro or Business Plus account. If you have one of these accounts, you must login and select "Add another file" to send up to five files at the same time.
Lite account users are restricted to sending one file at a time. However, you can use an archiving program to combine files into one volume before sending, as long as the total size is less than 100MB. Examples of archiving programs include WinZip and WinRar for Windows computers, and Stuffit for Macs. Please note that YouSendIt is not affiliated in any way with the publishers of the above software packages.
You can send an unlimited number of files using YouSendIt Express, our standalone desktop application. This is available for free download, and also provides faster upload speeds and resumable uploads.
